I'm really happy I was covering a tournament basketball game the other night when the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team lost to Penn State. Watching that game probably would've put me into cardiac arrest or in the least given me a stomach disorder! I can't believe that two college teams could score only 69 total points in this day and age. The UW Badgers better get their act together before the NCAA Tournament starts or they will be one and out against any of the teams that are selected!

Speaking of NCAA basketball, the other day I heard about Princeton beating Harvard for an automatic bid to the tournament. Now, both of these schools are probably known more for their intelligence than sports (at least in this area), but I maybe would've liked to see Harvard the winner. They haven't been to the NCAA basketball tournament since 1946 - gee that's the year I was born! I think they were shooting the basketball into a real wicker-like bushel basket at that time!

i had a chance to have breakfast - at the Red Room - Saturday morning with "old" friend Ron Dentinger AKA The Great Renaldo, AKA Wisconsin's Funniest Man, AKA Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce (Past) Director, AKA Professional Master of Ceremonies and Comedian, AKA Author, AKA who knows what else! He was in town for his book signing - Dear Ron (What Did You Expect When The Advice Was Free). It was held at Linens & Accents and the book still is available there. He REALLY needs the money, so stop in and buy one!

Speaking of Ron. He's still on the banquet circuit and came here from a gig in Sparta. He still has his "wit(s)" about him and comes up with a one liner or two that catches you off guard. One of the people who stopped in for a book Saturday was Bob McNeill. Boy did it "get deep" in there at that time!

Last week the Barneveld boys basketball team lost out at the sectional semi-finals and both the Barneveld and Highland girls basketball teams dropped regional final games. That pretty much ended out direct coverage of area teams in the WIAA tournaments - great seasons by each of these teams!

How about the weather? Temperatures are already in the 40s and are supposed to be near 60 by mid week. I wonder if the will stay there??? Oh, wait a minute, spring isn't here until Sunday, so who knows what will happen AND it's state basketball time!
