Knights split in weekend road trip

Five errors, six walks and 11 runners left on base.
Not a good line if a team wants to win in the competitive Western Section of the Home Talent Baseball League.
And the Dodgeville Knights did not win even though only one run they gave up was earned.
The Knights were handed an 8-6 disappointment by the host Argyle Beavers Friday night, giving them their third league loss of the season and keeping them from regaining second place. It was Argyle's third straight win.
Travis Elvert took the loss despite not giving up an earned run among the seven the Beavers got off him. He spaced five hits, walked four and fanned three.
Bill Hellman relieved and surrendered the only earned run. He struck out one, walked two and gave up two hits.
The Knights scored a run in the second when Aaron Ayers walked, advanced on singles by Eric Rohowetz and Mark Ludwig before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Tim Satterthwaite.
The Beavers hung a four spot on the Knights in the fourth, making the most of two errors, four walks and two hits.
The Knights answered with two in the fifth. Karl Reynolds led off with a single and stole second and third. Ty Marklein walked and Danny Sullivan drove both in with a single.
Argyle went up 5-3 in the sixth with a solo run.
The Knights took the lead in the seventh with three runs that made it 6-5. Gary James reached on a fielders choice then Sullivan, Ayers and Rohowetz had successive singles to account for the runs.
Argyle regained the lead with two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Marklein was 3x4 for the Knights and Sullivan 3x5, Rohowetz was 2x4 while Reynolds, Ayers and Ludwig had one hit each.
The next day turned out better for the Knights as they picked up their seventh win of the season in league play with a 10-3 win over Blanchardville.
Satterthwaite got the start and turned in six strong innings, leaving with a 6-1 lead and the eventual win. He fanned nine, walked one and gave up four hits. The one run the host Bullets got off him was unearned.
Danny Sullivan finished and did not give up an earned run, hit or walk while striking out four.
Newcomer Tanner Solberg was 4x5 for the Knights while DeMuth was 2x3 and Rohowetz 2x4.
Reynolds, Eric James and Ayers had one hit each.
The Knights scored one in the second on an error and another in the third on two errors and DeMuth's hit.
Solberg drove in a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Eric James had a two run double in the ninth and Solberg plated another with a single.
The Bullets scored one in the sixth and two in the ninth, all unearned with errors playing a role.
The Knights go to Plain Friday for a Night League game. They are at Monroe Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest then host Verona Sunday at 1 p.m.
