Dodger girls clear first rung
The visitors only got one ball to the outfield and Amber Edge's swinging bunt to lead off the fourth inning was the only thing that kept Perochaska from a no hitter.
Halli Austin led off the second striking out, but reached on a passed ball and went to second on anoter error. She was the lone Lady Hillmen player to reach second base.
Prochaska fanned nine and didn't issue a free pass in the win.
Her teammates scored two runs in the first and second, one in the third and completed the game in the bottom of the fifth with five tallies.
Abby Prochaska led off the game with a double and came in when Jess Reamon reached. Reamon scored on a single by Steph Dalsing.
On the day, Abby Prochaska and Reamon both were 3x4. Prochaska had both a double and triple and Reamon two doubles.
Dalsing was 2x3 while Carley Prochaska, Brooke Lee and Shelby Hill each had singles.
Platteville's Megan Schlueter fanned two without a walk and gave up 2 earned runs out of the 10 on 11 hits.
"This was our best overall game of the year, said Dodger coach Gene Van Dyck. "It starts with Carly who was dominating. Of the 15 outs she had 9 Ks with no walks. She had good velocity and good ball movement. But most importantly she had excellent control. She got ahead of the hitters and then was able to work the corners in sequence. They only hit one ball to the outfield - a shallow fly to right which Abby caught. They didn't have a hard hit ball in the game with their only hit being a swinging bunt. Their only other base runners was on a dropped 3rd. strike which with a mishandled ball at first ended up as a double error for our only 2 errors of the game."
"Defensively we made all of the other outs without a miscue. At the plate Abby, Jess, and Stef, all had really good at bats collecting 8 hits between them including 3 doubles and a triple in 11 plate appearances."
"We seem to be playing good confident ball right now and should have a good showing at Monroe on Tuesday."
