Pointers fade in second half, lose to Lady Hillmen
But, the Pointers had no answer for 5-10 Platteville junior Elisa Bilderback and lost to the Lady Hillmen 43-29.
Bilderback poured in 22 points and eight girls scored in the win. She also had 11 rebounds, five on the offensive end.
The Pointers got 10 points from Hannah Goninen.
The Pointers got within five points of the Lady Hillmen midway through the second quarter when Emily Mitchell scored all six of her points. After Platteville took a 15-6 lead, Mitchell turned in a pair of baskets then added a lay-up with 2:45 left to slice the lead to five at 17-12.
With 1:44 left in the first half, sophomore Tessa Wainwright got the Pointers within three at 17-14 when she made a pair of free throws before intermission.
Platteville pulled away in the second half as Bilderback and senior forward Megan Moss formed a one-two punch and combined for 22 second half points.
The win moved the Lady Hillmen to 4-1. The Pointers fell to 1-6.
