Eagles run away from Lady Hillmen

Platteville's 5-10 junior Elisa Bilderback put in 10 first half points to give the Lady Hillmen a 20-18 halftime lead.
Then Barneveld got defensive.
So defensive in fact that they limited Platteville to 12 second half points while scoring 35 points, many of them unanswered, to advance to the final of their own Candy Cane Classic, 53-32.
Hailey Cannoy's 17 points led the Golden Eagles and her seven in the third frame helped break the game open.
Freshman Rachel Slaney helped seal the win with eight straight points and finished with 11.
"Rachel and Hailey helped us pull away," Barneveld coach Jim Myers said.
Bilderback ended her night with 12.
The Eagles were deadly from long range and drilled eight three pointers. Madison Laube and Cannoy both had three while McKenzie Sporle and Alexis Bahr both had one.
Laube finished with nine points.
The Eagles took their time getting started and it wasn't until 1:56 was left in the opening frame that Heidi Chapman put in her only two points of the game to get them on the board.
"We missed a lot of shots early," Myers said.
Platteville was ready for the Eagles and led 20-18 at the half.
"Platteville is a very athletic and deep team," Myers said. "They took everything we threw at them and handled it."
So, Myers had the Eagles change their tactics the second half.
"We pulled back and worked hard on our halfcourt defense," Myers said. "We made them take shots they didn't want to take."
That helped the Eagles shut down Bilderback who was limited to two points the second half.
Myers said the Eagles got some help from their bench and several girls kept the offensive attack going so the starters could rest for the championship game.
"Alexis Bahr came in an hit a three and made some nice passes," Myers said. "Becca Owens got into the game and scored right away. She also did a good job playing defense."
"That let us rest the kids for the title game."
