Bechen saves the day at 03.5
"Coach McGraw (Matt) drew up this play in our final time out. It was a play he brought with him from Palmayra where he was a coach. It's great to have a former head coach sitting next to you on the bench," said Dodger head coach Ryan Bohnsack following the thrilling win.
"I commend the assistant coaches in helping these kids. They have really worked to have them play as a unit."
On the night, Bechen totaled 11 points, with his only basket in the final quarter coming on that last shot. He sat part of that frame due to foul trouble. He hit seven of is points in the third period when the Dodgers took a 28-26 lead.
Junior Nick Crowley led all scorers with 13 points, including seven in the fourth quarter. He left the game with just over 30 seconds remaining due to blood when he lost a tooth fighting for a rebound.
6'4" junior center Owen Schoen-enberger paced the Evansville scorers with 10 points.
"I commend our defense for knowing our game plan and going out and executing it. We had some breakdowns, but we kept working," Bohnsack said. "It was a physical game and we didn't really shoot well, but we battled and got rebounds"
"We have a huge conference game here Friday night against Prairie du Chien. They will bring the same physicalness and pressure that we faced tonight."
