River Valley boys trip Adams Friendship

River Valley's boys basketball team took a step along the rebuilding circuit Tuesday with a 53-40 win over Adams Friendship.
In typical River Valley fashion, the Blackhawks worked for good shots and stayed out of foul trouble while dipping into their line-up to take the non-conference win.
Brandon Noble led the Hawks with 17 points and Robb Gust drilled 10, including six straight free throws down the stretch.
It was Gust who put the Hawks on his shoulders in the last 30 seconds of the game. When AF cut the Blackhawk lead to three at 44-41 with half a minute to play, Gust drew the fouls and ice the win with six straight free throws.
Gust is the lone senior on the River Valley team this season.
"He gave us the final margin of victory," River Valley coach Jeff Johnson said.
Chase Scjwersenska led all scorers with 29 points for the Green Devils.
River Valley returns to the court tonight with a non-conference game at Belleville.
