Knights play pair of pre-play-off games
Pine Bluff handed the Knights an 11-1 loss Thursday in the first exhibition game as a trio of Bluffers pitchers limited them to three hits.
The Knights scored their lone run in the fourth. Karl Reynolds led off the inning with a double, stole third and scored on an infield out.
The Knights had two of their three hits in the fourth as Eric Rohowetz also doubled.
The third hit was a single by Travis Elvert in the third.
The Knights used three pitchers in the game. Greg Brennum started while Brandon Weier and Tony DeMuth worked in relief.
Monday the Knights scored a run in the top of the first and led Monona 1-0 but the Eastern Section team went on to a 9-1 win.
With two outs, Eric Rohowetz singled to center and was replaced by Guy "Pacco" Snell when he pulled a muscle heading to first. Danny Sullivan then singled and Travis Elvert followed with a base hit rbi.
The Knights managed only one hit after the first inning, a single by Jake Pluemer in the seventh.
Pluemer and Ty Marklein both pitched.
The Knights start their "one and done" post season run tonight when they host Mazomanie in a Western Section Night League play-off game at 7:30 p.m. The Knights are the #3 seed while Mazomanie is #6.
The entire Western Section play-off picture has #8 Plain at #1 Sauk Prairie, #7 Richland Center at #2 Reedsburg, #6 Mazomanie at #3 Dodgeville, #5 Cazenovia at #4 Black Earth.
The higher seed hosts throughout the play-offs.
Sunday the #3 Knights host #6 Platteville at 1 p.m. in Western Section play-off action.
The entire field is #8 Hollandale at #1 Verona, #7 Ridgeway at #2 Wiota, #6 Platteville at #3 Dodgeville, #5 Argyle at #4 Monroe.
The higher seed hosts throughout the play-offs.
