Pretty special pies

First, the golf outing serves as a reunion of sorts. Classmates come together to enjoy some friendly competition, friendship and knowing they are supporting a great cause.
Second, is Kathryn McGraw's pies.
Kathryn had children in many of the classes. She has supported every one of them along with a group of grandchildren who have also excelled athletically and academically. In talking with Kathryn, she is proud of each and every one of her children and grandchildren. Knowing Kathryn, I would expect no less.
Kathryn has had some ups and downs with her health this past year so having her pies at the event to auction off was not a sure thing.
But Kathryn would have nothing to do with missing a year of donating pies. After all, they have been known to bring between $300 and $400 each, a great help to the scholarship fund.
So, with the help of family, Kathryn got back into pie making mode and did her usual thing.
This year one of the event's biggest supporters, Larry Wagner, was unable to attend the event because of declining health. So, his family attended and bought one of the pies to take home to him. His classmates felt they needed to honor him with the tradition he started several years ago so they bid on and won one that was shared with 1965 classmates and friends on the spot.
A few days later Larry died and once again cancer took a wonderful human being.
Kathryn McGraw's dedication once again got pies to the event. And, Larry got to enjoy them one more time.
Another wonderful way that someone's life was touched because of another's heartfelt generosity.
