Some of My Thoughts

Thoughts....

297

Like the man or not, there is no way that Brett Favre's continuous starts record can be looked at as anything but a great accomplishment.

It is even more amazing when you take into account he set the mark as a quarterback.

When I played football, the goal was always to get the quarterback. Favre has taken more than his share of hard shots to the body and has came away ready for the next snap of the football.

What he has done is gone to work every day and prepared for the next game. When that game came, he took all the punishment the opposing team could dish out, then went back and got ready for the next week.

Equate that with your job. How many times have you taken the sick day route when you didn't feel like going to work? That was not an option for Brett Favre. When it was time to go to work he was always there.

Like his off season drama or not, like his off the field antics or not, you have to admire the man for going out there with 300 pound linemen wanting to put the hurt on him 297 straight times.

I am sorry the streak had to be ended by an injury. I would have liked to see Brett Favre end the streak on his own terms.

I congratulate him for what he did.

Thoughts II

A remarkable job by the city street crew in getting us all home safely during last weekend's bitter snowstorm and blizzard. While most, if not all of us stayed home, they were out there moving snow, assuring that we would have every opportunity to be safe the next day.

Thoughts III

No doubt the bottom line of our local businesses suffered last Sunday with the weather. Take some time before you finish your Christmas shopping to stop in the stores that sponsor so much in our community and make a purchase. We need a strong business community and it will only be that way if we all do our part.
