Leix, Marion Norbert

Marion Norbert Leix, age 87, of Montfort passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Upland Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Dodgeville. He was born on June 18, 1932 in Eden Township, Iowa County, the son of Clifton Herman and Margaret (Preston) Leix.
When Marion was less than one year old they moved to the present Leix farm where he lived until moving to Montfort in 1986. He attended Sunnyside rural grade school and graduated from Cobb High School in 1950. While in high school, he was on the basketball team that won the Iowa County League for two years. He and his team saw much success and had a great community following. In his senior year, the small town team won several games in the state basketball tournament before being defeated by Beloit Memorial. Marion enjoyed following his brothers, children and grandchildren in many extracurricular activities, including athletics, music, and showing livestock.
Marion married Mary (Biddick) on July 25, 1953 at the United Methodist Church in Livingston. Marion attended UW Madison Farm Short course then came back to join his parents on the family farm. Currently, their sons Don and Tim, along with three grandsons Ross, Brian, and Matthew, are running the family farm.
Marion was a member of the building committee of the Montfort United Methodist Church when it was built in 1963. From his high school years until well into his adult life, he had a love of singing in the church choir. The Leix's family was very proud to be chosen to host the Iowa County Dairy Breakfast in 1991. Marion was a delegate for AMPI and FS Cooperatives, a member of the Iowa County ASCS Committee and a member of the Wisconsin Master Farmers.
Marion is survived by his six children; David (Karen) Leix, of Waukesha, Donald (Cindy) Leix, of Montfort, Patricia Leix, of Sedalia Missouri, Thomas (Kelley) Leix, of Zionsville, Indiana, Timothy (Kathy) Leix, of Montfort, and Paula (Paul) Kosinski, of Milwaukee. Marion is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Ross (Marta) Leix, Kyle (Emily) Leix, Brian (Morgan) Leix, Hollyce Reynolds (Tyler McLemore), Kevin (Cassie) Leix, Rachelle (Brandon) Dilley, Matthew Leix, Victoria (Joe) Bandoszeski, Ivy Reynolds, Tyler Leix (Katey Sickert) and Alexandra Leix, thirteen Great Grandchildren; Baylee, Grady, Sawyer, Tucker, Britton, Taya, Kylyn, Kameron and Maxwell Leix; Nyla, Boone, and Brynlee Dilley; and Peyton McLemore,
brothers and sisters; Elaine Narveson, Linda Frederking, Charles Leix, James Leix and Russell (Lori) Leix,
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Kris Leix and Great Granddaughter Hadlee Grace Leix.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Montfort United Methodist Church in Montfort with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Friday.
