Sporle, B. Dale

B. Dale Sporle, age 95, of Mineral Point, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, just 2 hours before turning 96, surrounded by his loving and caring family.
He was born on July 31, 1923 in Grant County, the son of Benjamin and Zelma (Stead) Sporle. He attended school in Platteville and graduated from Platteville High School in 1941. Dale married Marcella Langkamp on June 6, 1945 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville. They farmed in the Platteville area until moving to a farm in Mineral Point in 1959, then retiring in October 1991.
Dale was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, served in the Iowa County Fair Board, drove truck for Hennessey Livestock, sold Jacques seed corn and was a 4-H Leader. After moving to town in Mineral Point, he was a crossing guard and drove hearse for Gorgen Funeral Services. Dale loved square dancing, camping, playing cards, shooting pool and spending time with his family. He was affectionately known as "Pops".
Dale is survived by his children Joyce (Dennis) Paradis, Rita (Kenneth) Norton, Linda (Richard) Hendrickson, Susan (William) Miller, Gary (Jane) Sporle and Randy (Gina) Sporle; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; his sister-in-law Marietta Moen; his brother-in-law Donald (Bev) Langkamp; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his in-laws Leo and Emma Langkamp, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Delores and Bernard Fink and his brother-in-law Deon Moen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Fr. Michael Tarigopula will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on Monday at the church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gordon Grieshaber and the staff of Mineral Point Care Center for their loving care of Dale.
