Lavon Klais, age 69, of Fennimore, WI passed away on Monday July 8, 2019 at the Agrace HealthCare in Fitchburg. She was born on Dec. 17, 1949, in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Lyle and Arloine (Gundlach) Fritsch. Lavon was united in marriage to Melvin Klais on June 6, 1970 in Cobb.
Lavon graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 1968. She enrolled and received her degree from Southwest Technical College in accounting. Lavon worked as a teller at the Fennimore State Bank for seven years until retiring and staying home to raise her daughter. Throughout the years, Lavon loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved spending a gorgeous day out fishing, or camping with her family at Blackhawk Lake and later, the River of Lakes, also getting together with the card club. Lavon was the grandchildren's biggest fan and loved supporting all their endeavors. She also enjoyed scrapbooking. Lavon devoted many hour researching and putting together scrapbooks of family history and genealogy. She was currently working on a book for the Fennimore American Legion. Lavon was a devoted member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Fennimore American Legion Auxiliary where she served as Treasure for several years. She was always there to help others. Lavon loved the simple things life offered; family, being a wonderful friend, one that you could count on, a day fishing, a nice meal, a walk with Daisy, and a game of cards.
Lavon is survived by her daughter Tonia (Joshua) Kreisel of Winona, MN, two grandchildren; Joey and Mattie Kreisel, special companion Daisy, brother and sister-in-laws; Terry (Monica) Klais of Bagley, Mary Ann Molzof of Lancaster, and Kay (Bob) Bonjour of Darlington.
Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin on April 25, 2015, mother and father-in-law Charles and Dorothy Klais, and her brother-in-law Lyle Molzof.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday July 12, 2019 at St. Paul's Liberty Ridge Church in Liberty Township, with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery rural Livingston. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Thursday July 11, 2019 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Friday morning.
