Foreman, Joseph "Joe" J.
Joseph "Joe" J. Foreman, age 78, passed away on Thursday April 4, 2019 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 4, 1941 in Eden Township, Iowa County, WI the son of John and Ruth (Ruzicka) Forman. Joe was united in marriage to Lois Post on Jan. 16, 1965 in Spring Green.
Joe graduated from Cobb High School in 1959. After some time, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon returning home, Joe took over the family farm and enrolled at Southwest Technical College and took farm management classes. Joe went to work for Montfort Equipment as a mechanic and then the Cobb Canning Factory until being employed in the maintenance department by the Village of Avoca until retiring in 2006. Joe was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and working on old cars, especially his 1956 Ford. He liked traveling with Lois and looked forward to their travels together out west. Joe also enjoyed playing cards, participating in bowling leagues in Dodgeville and Montfort, and being with family and friends. Joe was a member of the Cobb and Avoca American Legions, the Dodgeville 40/8, and a past Cub Scout leader. Joe was an awesome husband, father, and grandfather, who taught by example and was always willing to help others.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife Lois of Avoca, four children; Randy (Cindy) Foreman of Castle Rock, Dana (Stephanie Sarris) Foreman of Cobb, Neil (Pam Phillips) Foreman of Rewey, Dawn (Gary Tuggers) Foreman of Montfort, 11 grandchildren; Bo (Kelli Wilson) Foreman, Jessica Foreman, Joseph Foreman, Rachell Foreman, Alexis (Kaleb Kelly) Curtis, Falisha Foreman, Bryce Curtis, Nash Foreman, Charlee Tuggers, Jason and Josh Zinkle, eight great grandchildren; William Thornton, Glenn Foreman, Avery Kelly, Ethan, Pyper, Fox, Winter Zinkle and Magnus Zinkle, foster son Jim Klar of New Diggins, and his daughter Julie Hartlep. His sister Dorothy Harris of Platteville, sister in law Eileen (Don) Weichbrod along with several special nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Blain Curtis, three sisters; Ruth Forman, Joyce (Buck) Walls, and Deloris (Valery) Lins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday April 9, 2019 at the Avoca Bible Church in Avoca with burial to follow in the Eden Cemetery in Eden Township Iowa County, WI with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Monday April 8, 2019 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Tuesday morning.
