Jewell, LeRoy D. "Bud"
LeRoy D. "Bud" Jewell, age 92, of Dodgeville, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Veteran's Hospital in Madison with his family by his side.
He was born on December 12, 1926 in Dodgeville, a son of the late Melvin and Blanche (Evans) Jewell. He graduated from Cobb High School and after graduation enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. It is there that Bud met the love of his life, Verna May Sedlacek; they married on May 20, 1952.
He started a television repair business in Prairie du Chien and then moved the business to Edmund. Bud and Verna farmed for several years north of Edmund. Bud and his brother bought Martin Brothers Oil Co. in Dodgeville and established J & J Oil Co. which they ran for many years. He then drove truck until his retirement.
Bud is survived by his children David and LeAnn, Lynne, Laurie, Jeffrey, Randy and Julie, Steve and Julie, Curt, Mark, Dale and Betsy; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his brother Kenneth (June) Jewell; his sister-in-law Marian Jewell; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother Lloyd and sister Joyce Butteris.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Dodgeville Area Veterans. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Sunday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
