Gary P. Richter of Muscoda, passed away at home on March 12, 2023. Gary was the youngest child of Alfred and Viola Richter. He grew up on a farm in the countryside of Castle Rock. Gary moved to Muscoda in his teens and graduated from Muscoda High School in 1967. He attended UW Platteville for 2 years studying conservation. Gary was drafted to the Vietnam War in April 1970 and served his country in Vietnam until December 1971. Upon return from the war Gary worked several jobs before he began his many years as a maintenance worker at the Riverdale School District. In 1991 he married Loreli 'Lori' Walker, and they had 31 wonderful years together.
Gary had many hobbies including hanging out with his dog Casey, collecting the unusual, watching Packer and Badger games and especially playing poker with "his other brother and sister" Bob and Jane. Gary also was an American Legion member for many years and accomplished his lifelong dream of going to Washington D.C. for the Badger Honor Flight. He loved his family, and his happiest times were spent with his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Loreli 'Lori' Richter; daughter: Tara (Rich) Maclin of Duluth, MN, stepchildren: Jeffrey (Laurie) Walker of Reedsburg; Melissa (Todd) Cherry of Prairie du Sac; grandchildren: Abby Maclin, Emily Cherry, Ben Cherry, and Blake Walker. Gary is further survived by many sisters and brothers-in-laws.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jimmy Richter and infant sister Loretta Richter.
A private family service with a private burial and military honors will follow in the Boscobel Cemetery. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. Prattfuneralservice.com
