Edgington, Marietta Stella (Muller)

Marietta Stella (Muller) Edgington, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, surrounded by her loving children.

Marietta Stella (Muller) Edgington was born on June 6, 1935 to Charles and Mary (Pluemer) Muller of Tennyson, Wisconsin. Marietta was the youngest of three children, having an older brother Gilbert and an older sister Mildred. She often reminisced about the "simple pleasures" of her childhood - walking home from school for lunch, playing ball with her friends, fishing with her dad, and their cow "Putzy" who ran to the fence to greet them.

Marietta met the love of her life Wayne "Papa" Edgington at a wedding dance. Marietta and Wayne were married on October 12, 1955, and moved to the Edgington home farm. Together they ran a dairy farm and raised their five children: Michael, Edward, Lori, Mark, and John. She took their house and made it a home, welcoming all who entered to share a meal, a story, and friendship. While you may enter her home as a stranger, you would leave as a friend.

Marietta enjoyed spending time with family and friends, visiting, playing Euchre, Horse and Pepper, or a game of Rumikub - But don't be fooled by that sweet smile and gentle demeanor - she was playing to win. Marietta was an active member of Homemakers and enjoyed this time with her friends. The time she cherished most was making memories with her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren as they shared holidays together and celebrated all of life's special moments - big and small.

Marietta is survived by her children Lori (Jim) Edgington-Stieber, Mark (Sue) Edgington, John (Erin) Edgington; her 7 grandchildren: Andre, Valerie, Abbie, and Michael Edgington; Gwendolyn Hyslop; Brianna (Jena) Dietzman-Hyslop; and Seppi (Alana) Lehner; 3 great-grandchildren: Jamyang and Pema Hyslop; and Naeva Lehner; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

On March 1, 2023, God called Marietta home. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her sons Michael and Edward, and her grandson Sasha Edgington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in St. Thomas Cemetery in Montfort. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on Monday at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville.
