Dennis M. Millard, age 80, of Dodgeville passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Agrace Hospice Center in Fitchburg.
He was born on February 9, 1943 in Livingston, a son of the late Alden and Mary (Knutson) Millard. He graduated from Iowa Grant High School in 1961. On June 30, 1962, he married Joan Wunderlin at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort.
Dennis worked as a driver for UPS from 1964 until retirement in 1996. He then worked for Gemplers in Mt. Horeb, Silicon Sensors, Kwik Trip and the City of Dodgeville Parks Dept. He also worked for Par Mar Security at Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center for Badger games. He also served on the Dodgeville City Council for 4 years and was a member of Teamster Local 344 and served as Union Steward for 20 years.
Dennis loved sports, especially the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. He played fast pitch softball for several years and then coached local softball teams, Ten 4 Club, Dodge House and the Wunder-Inn. He also bowled for many years.
Dennis is survived by his wife Joan; his children Dana (Patrick) Alexander of Dodgeville, Dennis (Cindy Edge-Millard) Millard, of Spring Green and Dawn Millard of Linden; his grandchildren Sammy (Casey) Roelli, Jordan (special friend, Megan Florence) Alexander, Joey (Amanda) Alexander, Jessica (Shawn) Scott, Dustin (Heather) Millard, Heather Jo (special friend, Ed Snyder) Millard, Breliegh (special friend, Tristan Richards) Millard, Mason Brown, Alaina Lovaas & Mackenzie Lovaas; 17 great grandchildren; his brother Donnie (Janet) Millard; his sister-in-law Betty Millard; very dear friends Bill and Ruth Brennum; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Desiree Swiggum, his grandson Baby James, his brothers Dallas (Rita) Millard, Darold Millard, Dean (Jo Ann) Millard and Davon Millard.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
There will also be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated.
