Lucille G. Burris, of Clyde, passed away peacefully at the Richland Hospital with her loving daughter Sheila by her side, on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the age of 93.
She was born February 21, 1929. Her parents were Alphonse and Lena (Honer) Frank. Lucille and her husband Jim, made their life on the Oak Spring family farm, homesteaded in 1836. They worked the fields and milked cows until they retired.
Lucille cooked at the Clyde School for many years. She was a waitress at the Spring Green Restaurant as well. She enjoyed playing cards and cooking. She especially loved trying new recipes and letting others enjoy the fruits of her baking. She often filled the house with the aroma of her favorite food, baking bread.
Lucille was a life-long member of the St. Malachy Corpus Christi Parish in Clyde. She played the organ and was the cemetery sexton for almost 50 years. Lucille could be seen every day saying her prayers and rosary.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Al and Lena Frank; brother, Jerome Frank; sister, Evelyn Carol; special aunt, Dena Schlosser; and son-in-law, Bill Valdez. She is survived by her children, James E. Burris, Doreen Valdez, Sheila Burris, Laura (Phil) Vosberg; grandson, Kurt (Sasha); granddaughter, Marissa; three great-grandsons, Ryan, Keaton, Adam; special niece, Julie Chicoski; special family friend, Jan Hoffman; and her cats whom she loved very much.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lone Rock, Wisconsin. Fr. Nathan Thainase will officiate with burial in the St. Malachy's Catholic Cemetery in Clyde. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Lucille's name to Iowa County Humane Society; Iowa County Loan Closet; Lone Rock EMT or a charity of your choice.
