Ladd, Alice

Alice Ladd passed away peacefully on October 29, 2022. She was born on September 3, 1955 in Dodgeville, WI.

Alice grew up a country girl and made agriculture her livelihood. After graduating from Dodgeville High School, she went on to graduate from college at both UW-Richland Center and UW-Platteville. She attained her academic degree and taught agriculture in Hustisford, WI. Later, she transitioned her career and love of farming to an FmHA Administrator within the federal government. She spent her life helping farmers keep farming. Throughout her 40-year career, Alice worked diligently out of several government agricultural offices at Waupaca, WI, Portage, WI, Prairie du Chien, WI and Wray, CO. After retiring, she devoted more time to her volunteer work and her church activities. Alice continued to live in Colorado, but still loved her Wisconsin Sports,...especially the Badgers.

Alice's upbringing was country, through and through. She was even baptized and later confirmed in a countryside church. As a farm girl growing up, Alice could ride horses and was surrounded by dairy cows on the family farm. Alice was talented musically, she liked country music best. She taught herself how to play guitar with some help from her Dad. Singing and playing country music became her two favorite hobbies. So, Alice should not mind ......you could call her a country girl.

Rural life and church life influenced and strengthened Alice. Prior to college, Alice developed many skills and crafts in 4-H at the county, and state levels. She excelled in 4-H junior leadership, but also formed a keen talent at dog obedience training. She loved the farm pets, and you could get a holiday card from Alice with a kitten on the front pretty often.

Early in life Alice learned and lived ethically by the "Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Cowgirl Creed". Her religious beliefs became her strongholds. As a young adult she started studying the bible from cover to cover. She will be remembered as a steward of God. Her life instilled by honesty, courage, respect, and fair play... with the heart of a Christian and a Christian's duty.

Alice was the daughter of James Andrew Ladd and Mary Ellen (Peterson) Ladd, who have preceded her in death. She is further preceded in death by two uncles, Robert and Ronnie Peterson; and an aunt, Betty Androw. She is survived by two siblings: her brother, Eric; her sister, Ann; three aunts: Gloria (John) Trevorrow, Diane (Dan) Mingione, Sonja (Ron) Chamberlain; as well as many other relatives, friends, and church family.

"We can only keep you in our hearts until we can hug you in heaven." "Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand."

Special thanks to Alice's "Church Family" at Calvary Lutheran Church Wray and all who helped during this difficult time. You will always be in our hearts too.
