Kieffer, William "Bill" John

William "Bill" John Kieffer, age 70, of Prairie du Sac, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022. He was born on January 1, 1952 to the late Edward Jr. and Mary Melanie Kieffer, the third child of eleven.

Bill was raised on the family farm outside of Mineral Point. After high school, he spent many wonderful years on the farm, working with his father and brothers, and eventually introducing his four children to the joy of farming and nature. On June 29, 2000, he married his wife, Shirley (Osborn-Varholik) Kieffer. In his later years, he worked in maintenance at Oakwood Village. Bill was a strong, driven worker who loved to share his knowledge and wisdom with others. He found joy in the simple beauties in life and never missed an opportunity to make someone smile or laugh. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley (Osborn-Varholik) Kieffer of Prairie du Sac; his four children, Ben Kieffer (fiancée Sara Allen) of Dubuque, Nick Kieffer of Mineral Point, Mary Jean Kieffer (Romulo) Morishita of Madison, and Sarah Kieffer of Mineral Point; his three stepsons, Daniel (Jacqueline) Varholik of Platteville, Jason Varholik of Eau Claire, and Kevin (Erica) Varholik of Reedsburg; twelve grandchildren and step-grandchildren; his brothers, David (Lorna) Kieffer of Dodgeville and James (Sandy) Kieffer of Mineral Point; his sisters, Mary LaVoy of Dubuque, Ruth (Francis) Fitzpatrick of Darlington, Martha (Jeff) Wright of Harvard, Illinois, Teresa Tarr of Pinellas Park, Florida, Joan (Donald) Hughes of Monroe, Bobbi Miller of Mineral Point and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Melanie Kieffer, brother, Mark Kieffer, and sister, Jean Kieffer.

Bill's family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care Fitchburg for the care and kindness you gave him in the last several years of his life. Thank you for the gift of time.

A private inurnment and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
