Dunn, Mary Kathleen

Mary Kathleen Dunn, age 72, of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, WI. Mary was the daughter of Raymond C and Margaret (Maughan) Dunn. After graduating from Mineral Point High School in 1968, she attended UW-Platteville, graduating in 1972 with a Music Major and a Dairy Science Minor. She farmed in the Mineral Point area her entire life and was also very active in the community. She was a 4-H General leader of the Pleasant View 4-H Club for over 50 years. Mary Kathleen also taught piano lessons to many students of the years.

She was active with the Iowa County Dairy Promotion, served on the Alice In Dairyland Committee, was a member of the Brown Swiss Canto II and the Wisconsin Brown Swiss State Association. Mary Kathleen and her family showed cattle at the Iowa County Fair, Grant County Fair, Belmont Community Fair, Wisconsin State Fair and the World Dairy Expo. She was runner-up for the Iowa County Outstanding Farmer Award. Mary Kathleen was the first woman to have received this award.

Mary Kathleen was the organist and pianist for the Mineral Point United Church of Christ and also served on many committees at the church.

She loved farming, working with people, doing puzzles, telling stories, and making people laugh. She will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Diane (Ross) Topliff and Marilyn Ann (Ray) Dunn-Aurit and many cousins, friends and caregiver, Eleanor Jones.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon on Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Mineral Point United Church of Christ followed a funeral service beginning at 12:00 Noon. Pastor Susan Carr will officiate with burial in Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point. Memorials to the Mineral Point United Church of Christ would be greatly appreciated.
