Hunter, Ronald Wesley

Ronald Wesley Hunter, age 81, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Upland Hills NHRC. Although Ron faced many health issues throughout his life, he never lost his faith in God and accepted his fate without complaint.

Ron was born on May 24, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, the oldest son of Wesley and Evelyn Hunter. The family moved to Mineral Point, Wisconsin, when Ron was in high school. Here he met his high school sweetheart Edith Kinsman. They were married on June 2, 1962, by his father, the Rev. Wesley Hunter.

Ron was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and earned his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Industrial Education and enjoyed teaching at Port Washington Vocational School and Lancaster High School. His craftsmanship and love of wood helped him create many loving gifts for family and friends.

Ron enjoyed reading, woodcarving, cheering on the Badgers and Packers, playing and sometimes "cheating" while playing Five Crowns with his grandkids, and playing Yahtzee nonstop.

Ron will be missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Edith; his three daughters Patti (John) Kersten, Amy (Erik) Jappinen, and Alicia (Eric) Tverberg; six grandchildren Matthew, Lauren, Tessa, Alyssa, Hannah, and Allison; step grandsons Nick (Katie) and Alec; and step great granddaughter Reese, his sister-in-law Marilyn Trevorrow, brother-in-law Gene (Carol) Potterton, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom, and nephew Greg.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the DODGEVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Pastor Jim Droste will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and on Wednesday from 10:00 until 10:50 AM at the church.
