Narveson, Elaine M.

Elaine M. Narveson, age 87, passed peacefully on Sunday July 3, 2022, at her home in Dodgeville, WI surrounded by her family. She was born on May 23, 1935, to the late Clifton and Margaret (Preston) Leix in Eden Township, Iowa County, WI.

Elaine was raised on a farm in Montfort, WI. She was married to Kenneth J. Narveson in December of 1951 and farmed in north Dodgeville. They raised five children: Bruce (Sally) Narveson of Raleigh, NC, Allen (Ruth) Narveson of Russellville, AR, Laurie (Robert) Wolfe of Broadhead, WI, Sandra (Terry) Litchfield of Waupaca, WI, and Cheryl (William) Ayers of Oregon, WI. She had 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.

In 1956, they purchased Julies Dairy Bar on North Bequette Street in Dodgeville and later changed the name to Narvey's Restaurant. Elaine later divorced in 1974. She continued to own and operate Narvey's for the next 50 years when she chose to retire in 2006 when she moved to North Bennett Road where she lived for the past 16 years.

Elaine was a founding member of Faith Fellowship Church where she assisted with Awanas and sang with the choir. She loved the Lord Jesus and was eager to share her faith with others. Later in life she received her pilots license which became one of her passions. She also enjoyed cooking and serving the public. Elaine had a strong connection with the Dodgeville community; she served with the election process, was a member of the Private Industry Council (P.I.C.) and her church.

Elaine was a woman with many talents she had a drive to do most things such as gardening, Dodgeville farmers market, bowling, reading and traveling to places like Israel in 1973, and many other states visiting family and attending conventions. Elaine was also known to sing with the Iowa County Homemaker's Chorus.
Elaine was the second of six children and preceded in death by her brother Marion Leix and sister-in-law Chris Leix. She is survived by her sister Linda Frederking; brothers Chuck, Jim, and Russell (Linda) Leix.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday July 9, 2022, at the Faith Fellowship Bible Church in Dodgeville. Immediately following the funeral service, the family invites everyone for food and fellowship in the church hall. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Montfort, WI. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. on Friday July 8, 2022, at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
