Wagner, Phyllis Mary
Phyllis Mary Wagner joined the church triumphant as she clasped the hand of Jesus on May 3, 2022 at Sunnyside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sarasota Florida.
Her parents were Henry and Anne Bernadine (Berna) Belscamper. Phyllis was born March 16, 1924 in Grant County, Wisconsin, and raised on the family farm. She attended Pleasant View Country School for 8 years and in 1941 she graduated from Lancaster High School. After graduation, Phyllis worked as a bookkeeper at the Lancaster Canning factory. In addition, she worked at the Union State Bank in Lancaster for 10 years. While living in Lancaster, she was a member of the Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed church where she was baptized, confirmed and married.
She married John (Jake) Wagner on October 5, 1946 and in 1951 they moved to Livingston. Phyllis then transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church in Livingston where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women for 50 years as well as a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years. Phyllis continued her banking career working for the Livingston State Bank. She also worked for Barnett Bank in Englewood, Florida for five years.
She enjoyed people and working with the public. In 2007, she relocated back to Florida to be near her daughter. In 2010, Phyllis moved to Sunnyside Village where she spent the last 12 years. Barbara and her husband Wayne wish to offer grateful thanks for the wonderful love and care that Mother received.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Wayne) Austin of Sarasota, FL. She is also survived by sister in law, Helen Kenny of Dodgeville, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Jake, and her sister Ruth Alcorn.
A celebration service honoring Phyllis will be held at Livingston United Methodist Church, Livingston, WI, on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Lunch will follow the memorial service.
The interment will be at the Rock Church Cemetery, Livingston, Wisconsin.
