Jones, Paul G.

Paul G. Jones, age 70, of Verona formerly of Montfort, WI passed away on Tuesday May 3, 2022, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 3, 1951, in Dodgeville the son of Gordon and Shirley (Mueller) Jones. Paul was united in marriage to Grace Menninga on July 29, 1972, in Mifflin.

Paul graduated from Iowa-Grant High School and then received his degree from University of Wisconsin Platteville. After being in the workforce for several years, he was employed at the Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore where he also received another degree in Supervisor Management. He also enjoyed driving bus for their sports teams and their tour bus for the elderly. Paul was a Montfort Volunteer Rescue Squad member for 31 years, a member of the Montfort Jaycees, IGEMS referendum committee, and an active and lifelong member of the Montfort United Methodist Church. He served on various committees within the church, sang in the choir, and served as a lay minister for 20 area churches. Paul was dedicated to his community, work, and especially his family.

Paul is survived by his wife Grace of Verona, two sons: David (Christine) Jones of Bismarck, ND, and Daniel (Katie) Jones of Oregon, WI, four grandchildren: Megan, Jaylyn, Clayton, and Chloe Jones, son-in-law Tony Bakken of Prairie du Chien, two sisters: Eleanor Jones of Mineral Point, and Karen (Jim) Dittmar of Elizabeth, IL.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Rachel Bakken.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday May 9, 2022, at the Montfort United Methodist Church in Montfort with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Pastor Kristen Lowe will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Monday morning.
