Francis, Karen Ann

Karen Ann Francis, age 69, of Livingston, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 12, 1953, at Memorial Hospital in Boscobel, the daughter of John and Theresa (Karasek) Mathews. Karen graduated from Iowa Grant High School in 1971. On January 24, 1970, she was united in marriage to Frank D. Francis at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort. After their marriage Frank was employed with Iowa County Farm for a short time before he and Karen began farming with Karen's father between Livingston and Arthur. Together they farmed until 1986, when they moved into Livingston. Karen was employed at Dick's and later, the Piggly Wiggly in the Deli, retiring in 2020. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting strawberries and cows, and camping. She dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Frank; their children: Franklin "Will" (Cindy Molzof) Francis, Livingston; Kerry (Rick) Beerkircher, Dodgeville; Robin (Paul) Pitzer, Livingston; eight grandchildren: Matthew Francis, Jessica (Justin) Warne, Owen, Michael (Alicia), and Bridget (Kyle) Beerkircher, Kyle (Kali) Francis, Zackary and Joshua Pitzer; three step-grandchildren: Parker, Lillian and Madeline Warne; one great-grandson, Easton, and one on the way; her father, John Mathews; her brother, John D. (Kathy Tommy) Mathews, Janesville; her in-laws: Mike Francis, Montfort; Cathy Tanner, Edmund; John (Laura) Francis, Crystal Lake, IL; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to her mother, Theresa, Karen was preceded in death by her in-laws: Wilson (Nanette) Francis, Al "Bear" Tanner, and Randy (Terry) Francis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort with Father Jim Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Rock Church Cemetery, Clifton Township. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until. 7:00 p.m. at Soman Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given in Karen's name to Agrace HospiceCare. Soman Larson Funeral Home in Montfort is serving the family.
