Sullivan, Jessie Lou "Lou"
Jessie Lou "Lou" Sullivan, age 85, of Mineral Point, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Upland Hills NRC. Lou was born on December 28, 1935 at home in Fox Hollow near Richland Center, the daughter of Fred Lyman and Kate (Pennell) and Neil "Papa" Strine. She grew up on a farm running from rattlesnakes. The family moved several times but settled in Mineral Point. She was a cheerleader in high school. Lou graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1953. After high school she moved to Madison and worked for Ray-O-Vac in downtown Madison. On May 21, 1955 she married the love of her life, Stan, whom she pursued even during high school. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage. She spent her entire married life farming along side of Stan. Lou was a member of the Pleasant View Church in rural Mineral Point where she taught Sunday School and worked the Ladies Aide lunches. She also volunteered her time as a cook at Pleasant View School where her children attended. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors. Lou enjoyed sports, especially baseball. She and Stan attended many Brewer's games. She was a very avid follower of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities. A passion for her was making detailed scrapbooks for family and many friends children while they were in high school which she would present to them upon graduation. Lou and Stan traveled the US extensively, but really loved the west. Their favorite spots were Cody, WY and Buffalo, MT. In times of trial or trouble, her saying was "this too shall pass".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan on March 8, 2016; her parents; her in-laws; a brother, Dick (Joan) Lyman; a sister, Sue Rideout; a brother-in-law, James Arthur and a nephew, David Arthur.
