Larry White, 72 of Middleton/Platteville, passed away on April 6, 2021 at Edenbrook of Platteville. Larry was born July 10, 1948 in Savannah, TN to James and Hazel White. The family moved to Chicago in the mid 50's, then Hazel and the kids moved to Linden in 1966. Larry received an associate degree from MATC in the early 70's and started work at the Stamm House restaurant in Middleton shortly after that. He worked there for 31 years before moving to Platteville to be closer to his brother Ed in 2004. In 2005, Larry started working as a Walmart greeter and continued in that position and maintenance until his cancer diagnosis in October of 2020.
Larry enjoyed Packer and Badger football and campfires with Mitch and his other neighbors at Evergreen Mobile Home park and sitting in on monthly poker games with his brother Ed. He had pets all his life, including parakeets, tropical fish and cats. He made friends easily and had many long-time friends, but none more than Jim and Lyn Passini of Cross Plains. He spent countless holidays and other vacations at their homes in Cross Plains and Rice Lake. Finally, he will be missed by his neighbors at Evergreen, particularly Connie and Sonny Claussen, and his longtime coworker and next-door neighbor Jackie Prall.
He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Schafer of Cobb, and brothers, Wille Earl White of Savannah, Ed (Laurie) White of Baraboo, and Sam Turner of Madison. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents, James White and Hazel Faull, a sister Sarah (James) Jewell, a brother, James Ricky "Slim" White and a nephew, Eric Griffiths.
Funeral services will be held at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, in Dodgeville on Saturday, April 10, 2021. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until the service at 3:00 P.M. Please wear your mask and social distancing will be adhered to. Burial will be at the Linden cemetery following the service, there will be no lunch because of the Covid pandemic.
