Johnston, Juanita Mae

Juanita Mae Johnston, age 96, of Cobb, WI passed away on Thursday March 11, 2021 at the Azura Memory Care in Stoughton. She was born on August 2, 1924 in Mifflin Township the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Jenkins) Johnston.

Juanita graduated from high school and continued with secretarial training courses. She resided with her sister Dorothy and family in Madison where she was employed in the insurance business. Juanita returned to Cobb in the mid 1950's and was employed at the Iowa-Grant School District for 27 years as an administrative assistant.

Juanita also known as "Nita" was a voracious reader, and was able to travel internationally in her younger years. She especially liked family get-togethers where the gathering and cooking took place outdoors. Nita especially enjoyed the fall gatherings; she loved the smoked salmon, grilled venison, and a good beer. She will be remembered for her subtle sense of humor and loved a good joke. She was always a friend to anyone who needed a friend. Never married, Juanita rowed her own boat her entire life yet happily plugged the holes in the boats of others, if the need arose. She was and is, beloved by any who knew her.

Juanita is survived by her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; Philip (Gail) Johnston and their three daughter; Ginnie, Tori, and Jacki, David (Kay) Johnston and their children; Nicole (James) Deziel and their daughter Willow and Kelly (Leslie Williams) Johnston, Jill (Roger) Trankle, and their daughter Traci Trankle Schultz along with her six children, Pat Dewitt and her five children; Debra (Mike) Newman and her three children; Zac, Sara, and Tyler, Steve (Jill) Smith and their two children; Cindy (Mike) Valdez and their two children Dalton and Iris, and Lisa (Jim) along with their children Nate and Kate and Susan Smith, Lee (Mary) Bjornstad and his step son Jason, and Libby McHugh-Bjornstad and son Lon Jr. and Linn Bjornstad.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law; Quinton (Qwetholyn) Johnston, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy (George) Bjornstad, brother Ruford (Iris) Johnston, an infant sister Quinevere Johnston, and nephew Lon Bjornstad, great nephews, Dr. Joel Johnson, Tim Trankle, and nephew-in-law Ron DeWitt.
