Bickford, Charles O.
Charles O. Bickford, age 88, of Montfort, WI passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. He was born on September 3, 1932 in Livingston the son on Bert and Laura (Draves) Bickford. He was united in marriage to Janice Joy Swan on December 29, 1962 at the Calvary Evangelical and Reformed Church in Wauwatosa.
Charles graduated from Montfort High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Navy in March of 1956 and served overseas in the Philippines as part of the "Seabees" Construction Battalion. After his honorable discharge, Charles came back to Wisconsin to farm with his parents. He continued farming on the Century Farm and also milked cows into his early 70's. He also took great pleasure from driving his teams of miniature horses in various local parades throughout the area.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife Joy of Montfort, son Kevin (Connie) Bickford of Montfort with grandchildren Brandon and Allison of Montfort, daughter Jennifer Amend of Livingston with grandchildren Camille (AJ) Rascon of Albuquerque, NM and Sgt. Benjamin Amend of Fayetteville, NC, along with one great-grandchild. Charles is also survived by his sisters Lois Dobson and Kathryn Fitzsimmons of Dodgeville and many loved nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol Bickford, an infant brother Hiram Bickford, and brother-in-laws Kenneth Dobson and Donald Fitzsimmons.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 20, 2021 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Montfort with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday morning. The wearing of masks along with social distancing will be practiced. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Montfort VFW in loving memory of Charles.
