Furrer, Nancy Kay
Nancy Kay Furrer (formerly Nancy Kay Larson), known to her close friends as "Katie", passed away peacefully Sunday, January 24, 2021 from complications of a brief illness in Temecula, CA while residing there with her daughter, Rachel Kay Furrer, and her family.
She was born Nancy Kay Larson on September 16, 1943 to parents Lloyd and Bernadine Larson in Dodgeville, WI, who have preceded her in death. She is survived by her younger brother Glenn Larson, ex-husband Fred Furrer, step-sister Pam Bailey Gurske Kelland, her dearest daughter Rachel Kay Furrer (fiancée Nathan Williams-Bonner) and grandson Eniko Barber.
Nancy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in 1966 with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and became an RN. She worked as a Visiting Nurse for some years after graduation in Madison, WI. Then she worked at Mendota Mental Hospital with her dear friend Miriam Hull. After that she headed up a Well Baby Clinic in Geneva and St. Charles, IL. Later she became a mental health nurse alongside her long time friend Candy Yelnick (now deceased) for many years working in Elgin, IL. Later in life, she served as a community nurse in Sauk and Columbia Counties in Wisconsin.
She was a loving and caring friend to all who knew her and will be sorely missed. She was full of life and loved cooking, gardening and many artful projects. She was able to drive her car and care for herself up until her untimely stroke and passing.
The family requests that any remembrances of Nancy Kay Furrer be given in her name to her daughter Rachel Furrer to assist in covering any funeral expenses.
