Dochnahl, Elizabeth (Betty)
Elizabeth (Betty) Ann (Zimmerman) Dochnahl, age 91, of Dodgeville, went to meet our Lord and Savior on January 7, 2021. She was born on March 3, 1929 near Martinsville, the daughter of Joseph and Sybilla (Helt) Zimmerman. She attended St. Martin's Catholic School and attended Vocational School while working in Madison.
Betty met the love of her life, at a dance and was united in marriage to Urban P. Dochnahl at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Madison on May 30, 1956. She and Urban lived their married lives on the family farm outside of Dodgeville where they raised their four children, until their retirement. They were married for 56 years, until he passed on July 22, 2012.
Betty is survived by four children Dennis (Judith) Dochnahl of Dodgeville, Don (Dee) Dochnahl of Dodgeville, Dean (Julie) Dochnahl of Dodgeville and Deborah (Bill) Endres of Waunakee; three granddaughters, Darlene Dochnahl (Bob Marzinske) of Milwaukee, Doreen Dochnahl (finance Tyler Stohlmeyer) of Mt. Horeb and Diana Dochnahl of Dodgeville; and sister-in-law Mary Jean Hlavac of Madison.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Urban; her parents Joseph and Sybilla (Helt) Zimmerman; her brothers Joseph; Henry; Godfrey and her sister Marie Utzig; father- and mother-in-law, Fred and Mary Dochnahl; sisters-in-law Margaret and Elsa Zimmerman and Genny Derer and brothers-in-law Phillip Utzig, Ed Derer and Frank Hlavac.
Betty was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. John's - Union Mills. She started the Mother Theresa prayer group in the late 1900's. She was a prolific reader, enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and woodworking. She loved nature and family, enjoying rides in the country and going to church dinners with friends and relatives. She loved playing cards and her card clubs. She belonged to the Five Points Homemakers Club for 60 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Dochnahl will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. John's - Union Mills Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank the administration, nurses and staff of the Atrium Post Acute Care of Mineral Point, the St. Croix Hospice doctors and nurses, Christian Servants Home Care caretakers, the doctors and nurses at Upland Hills and St. Mary's Hospitals, the Dodgeville EMS staff for their loving, compassionate care of our mother.
Mom lived a simple life always caring for family and friends, We are so grateful God gave us this wonderful woman to be our Mom. We will miss her dearly, May she rest in peace.
