Clauer, David John

David John Clauer, age 53, of Linden, was found officially to have made his final exit from this world on Thursday, November 19, 2020. He is believed to have passed away peacefully in his sleep following a minor heart attack due to health issues days earlier.
David was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dodgeville on May 13, 1967 to Laura and John Clauer. David grew up in Dodgeville and graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1985. He was married from 1993 and later divorced in 2012.
David was known for his shade-tree mechanics which he learned from his father. He enjoyed working with people--especially in the service industry (mostly in food service) and spending time with his beloved animals. David would help anybody in need even if he caused him displacement and would almost never ask for (or accept) anything in return. His help included helping at work, helping those with vehicle issues, mowing lawns, minor house repair, etc.
David was preceded in death by his girlfriend, Dawn Schultz in May of 2020, his sister, Tara Clauer in June of 1986, and his father, John H. Clauer in November of 1988. He is survived by his daughters, Anna Dalberg and Jessica Frame-McCluskey, his grandchildren, his mother, Laura (Dennis Sr) Benson, his sister, Jaclyn Hauser (Anthony John Wilson), brothers, Daniel Clauer (Hollis Books), Dennis Benson Jr., Joshua J. Clauer, sisters, Crystal Benson and Sara Clauer as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville. A private service for family will follow at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Linden Cemetery after. Face masks will be required and need to be worn correctly for all choosing to attend as well as social distancing and establishment capacity limit requirements will be adhered to.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to assist with the expenses. Donations may be made to a go-fund-me page at or send c/o Sara Clauer; 110 S. Dacotah; Dodgeville, WI 53533
