Kobbervig, Donald Elmer

Donald Elmer Kobbervig, age 101, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Bloomfield HCR. Donald was born on October 22, 1918 in Springfield Township, rural Mount Horeb, to Albert and Ida Belle (Beard) Kobbervig. He attended Malone Grade School until 1928 when his parents moved to rural Dodgeville. Donald then attended Hollyhead Grade School until 1933 when he stayed home to help his parents on the farm. He married Anna "Jerry" Dale on July 14, 1942. He then worked at Badger Ordnance for several months until working for Weier and Reese until 1944 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Donald resumed his working career beginning as a farmer, farming on the Iowa County Farm for four years, followed by farming on his own for 12 years. He then started at the F.S. Co-op Feedmill where he worked for 20 years, retiring as General Manager in 1984. Donald was a dedicated member of Grace Lutheran Church. He truly enjoyed his Veteran Friends and he was a member of the Gomer-Lewis American Legion Post #97; Dodgeville V.F.W. Memorial Post #7345 where he was Quartermaster for over 33 years; Mineral Point D.A.V. #67 and the Iowa County 40 et 8. Donald also enjoyed driving other Veterans to their appointments for over 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerry on May 19, 2015 after enjoying almost 73 years of marriage; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kobbervig; four brothers, Raymond (Marie); Robert (Lucille); Kenneth and Edgar (Golda) Kobbervig; a sister, Eleanor (Gordon) Williams; four sisters-in-law, Isabelle (Mike) Wolenec; Helen (Clifford) Gard; Ruth (Ortner) Stratman and Phyllis Sticha and two brothers-in-law, Harold Dale and Kenneth (Delores) Dale.
Donald is survived by his son, Harold Kobbervig of Racine; his daughter, Janis Uselmann of Oregon and her children, Adam Uselmann and Erika Linberg; a great granddaughter, Anna Linberg as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020 at East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville with Pastor Mark Williamson officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Gomer-Lewis American Legion Post #97 and the United States Army Military Honors Detail. Feel free to bring a chair if you would like.
A visitation will be held at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19 masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be adhered to.
