Johnson, Marilyn Jean
Marilyn Jean Johnson entered the eternal presence of the Lord on August 29, 2020. Marilyn was born in Dodgeville, WI on April 16, 1932, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth and Thomas Earl Thompson. As a child, Marilyn enjoyed riding her bike and was a talented roller-skater.
Marilyn met her forever love, Norman Freddie Johnson on a double date, one beautiful autumn day. They married on November 11, 1948. Norm and Marilyn enjoyed 71 years of marriage. They were blessed with 8 children. Marilyn lovingly cared for each of them. One of her favorite things was taking long country rides with Norm, enjoying God's beautiful creation and reminiscing about good times. Marilyn and Norm loved wintering in South Florida, camping in Colorado and traveling to visit their children. Marilyn was skilled at crocheting and diligently hand made doilies for anyone who asked. Her meals were fantastic and she would stay up late into the night to make 'one more pie' for holidays.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her eldest son, Dale, infant grandchild, Tonya and her daughter-in-law, Karyle . She is survived by her devoted husband Norm, sister Alice (Jim), and adult children: Dallas, Dan, Sandra, Shari (Don) Mary, Marshall (Julie) and Marsha (Scott). Marilyn and Norm have 15 adoring grandchildren: Tara (John), Angela (Spencer), Fred (Valerie), Thomas (Jen), Mickey (Krista), Christopher, Cori, Dylan, Nichole, Michael, Garrett, Isaac, Hannah, Silas and Brady. Their great grandchildren include: Karolyn, Luke, Myah, Eliana, Melissa, Derek, Ethan, Mason and Dexter. One great-great grandchild is Marlee.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Mineral Point Care Center for their kind and compassionate care.
To know Marilyn, is to love Marilyn. She will be deeply missed, but this is not goodbye. Our beloved Marilyn is receiving her eternal reward. A gift she received due to her faith in Jesus Christ. "But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." ~ 1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV
Surely, Marilyn is hearing from her Lord, 'Well done, good and faithful servant.'
There will be a tented outdoor memorial in honor of Marilyn starting at 10:00 on Saturday, September 12th. Funeral service to follow at 11:00. Please consider bringing a lawn chair.
