Carey, Alice Mary

Alice Mary Carey joined her husband Wayne and her son Greg in eternal life on May 15, 2020. Alice was born to Mary (Murphy) and George Finkelmeyer on September 16, 1930 and was raised on the family farm in Mineral Point. On August 19, 1949 she married Wayne Carey at St. Paul's Catholic Church. They would spend the next 63 years together.
Mom was a kind and caring person and a devout Catholic. She had a great sense of humor. She loved taking rides in the countryside and stopping for a hamburger at Tony's Tap and then on to Culvers for an ice cream. As a family we will all cherish the wonderful memories we have of the Carey get-togethers that were full of laughter and good times. The aroma of Mom's fabulous cooking, especially her home made dinner rolls, will never be forgotten.
Alice truly enjoyed the years she spent working with her son Greg at Ridge Lumber as bookkeeper; and she valued the relationships she shared with the contractors and customers.
The family would like to thank Mom's neighbors the Engels and the Greenwoods and her sisters-in-law Janice (John) Carey, Jo McWilliams, Janice (Bob) Carey and Gola Finkelmeyer for the support and friendship they gave to her.
Needing more care the last two year of her life she lived at Oak Hill Terrace in Waukesha in order to be closer to her family.
Alice is survived by her children Diane (Jack) Melville, Donna (RJ) Swenson and her daughter-in-law Becky Carey. Grandchildren: Kirk (Kate) Swenson, Shawn (Laura) Swenson, Kyle Swenson, Kimberly (Jamie) Sporle, Danny (Kacy) Carey, Chris Melville, Jenny (Thomas) Stuber. Great-grandchildren: Drew, Dylan, Ellie, Rilee, Cameron, Rayna, Jordan, Charlie, Zach and Brianna who all brought so much joy to her life. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law: Gola Finkelmeyer, Dorothy Finkelmeyer, Jo McWilliams, Janice Carey, Trudy Carey, Janice Carey and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, son Greg, parents George and Mary Finkelmeyer, sisters Jean Figge and Norma Finkelmeyer, brothers Francis, Paul, and Harry Finkelmeyer. Also sisters/brothers in-law: Anna Mae Finkelmeyer, Rosalie and Bill Logue, Jean and Don Turek, Marion and Gene Wilson, Gerald and Marion Carey, and John , Dick, Bob and Bill Carey.
Rest in peace Mom. Our memories of you will be filled with love and laughter.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Ss. Mary & Paul Catholic Church on Thursday, May 21, 2020.
Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery.
