Chitwood, Ruby Elisa
Ruby Elisa Chitwood, age 95, formerly of Blue River and Boscobel, Wi. passed away on January 27th,2020 at the Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh, Wi.
Ruby married Keith Chitwood in December 1944. They were blessed with three children. Jim and his wife Kay of Oshkosh and their sons, Matthew, David and Stephen. Ted and his wife Ronda of Dodgeville and their children Kara and Kyle, and Susan (deceased) and her husband Larry Kent of Fond du Lac and their daughters, Tara, Lindsey and Kelly. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruby and Keith believed in being stewards of the land and were active conservationists being some of the first to implement hillside contour farming and forest management. Ruby dedicated her life to farming and was also the herdswoman, accountant and record keeper for their family farming operation.
Both Ruby and Keith encouraged and supported their children's participation in the local 4-H, school activities, sports, church, and their higher education.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents,Carl and Alma Anderson, husband Keith in 1990, daughter Susan Rae Kent in 1993. Also her siblings Alice Dale and Clifford and LeRoy Anderson.
A celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Bocbobel, Wi on February 15th. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 - 11:00 am, service at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.
Memorials may be given to the Riverdale School District Foundation, the Blue River United Methodist Church or the Evergreen Retirement Community Foundation if you are so inclined.
The family would like to thank the Evergreen staff for the kindness and care they extended to Ruby and also to the Kendall Funeral Services for their assistance in planning the memorial service.
