Gullickson, Gladys Marie (Nelson)

Gladys Marie (Nelson) Gullickson, passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Bloomfield Healthcare, Dodgeville, at age 97. She was born on July 1, 1922, in Bath, S.D., to Louis and Jennie (Johnson) Nelson. She was one of a family of 14 children. She attended school and church in the Groton, S.D. area.
Gladys came to Wisconsin at age 16 to stay with her aunt and uncle. She married Glenn Gullickson on July 27, 1942, in Dodgeville. They farmed in Ridgeway township their entire life. They raised five children and was always there for their grandchildren. Gladys loved music and dancing, cooking, baking and sewing. She was a lifetime member of Barneveld Lutheran Church, Rebecca Circle and Iowa County Homemakers. She also drove for the Iowa County Commission on Aging. Gladys traveled back to her home in South Dakota each summer and enjoyed every minute with her parents, brothers and sisters.
Glady is survived by her children, Mary Jean Gullickson-Krantz, Harold (Julie) Gullickson, Rick (Colleen) Gullickson and Joyce (Bruce) Frisch; grandchildren, Todd, Kenda, Bradd, Chadd, Heidi, Kelsi, Michelle, Marla, Shane, Heather, Adam, Kyle, Michael, Colin and Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Carman, Cheyenne, Cara, Joel, Will, Natalie, Jordan, Jenna, Morgan, Halle and Carter; great-great-grandchildren, Henry, Eris, Emily, Rhett and one on the way; sisters, Lois Marko, Darlys Marko and Marlys Kraft; and brother, Calvin Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Kenneth; grandson, Michael Paul; sisters, Florence Hinz, Dorothy Heagley, Lucille Zweifel, Betty Walth and Beverly Schilling; and brothers, Melvin and Bud Nelson, and Milton and Leslie Nelson in infancy from the 1918 flu.
A funeral service will be held at BARNEVELD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 505 Swiss Lane, Barneveld, at 12 noon, on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, with the Rev. Jim Hearne presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. A private burial will be held at Ridgeway Union Cemetery.
