Fitsimmons, James E.

James E. Fitsimmons, age 90, of rural Mineral Point/Jonesdale passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Upland Hills Health following a brief illness. Jim was born on August 17, 1929 the son of J. Bree and Catherine (Jackson) Fitzsimmons and was a 1947 graduate of the Hollandale High School. He married Joyce Godfrey on May 28, 1960 at the Willow Springs United Methodist Church. Together they farmed the Fitzsimmons Family Farm in the Jonesdale area their entire lives. Working on the farm was his passion. He was still driving his tractors, running a skidsteer and riding his 4-wheeler just weeks before his illness. He was member of Bethel United Methodist Church
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce on May 19, 2005; his parents; his brother and wife, William and Mary Fitzsimmons; a brother-in-law, Ron May; his sister-in-law and husband, Betty and Everette Clayton and brother-in-law and wife, Walter and Evelyn Godfrey. He was also preceded by a nephew, Bryan Fitzsimmons and a niece, Nancy Clayton Weinbrenner.
Jim is survived by three children, Carla (Ron) Jacobson of Dodgeville; Denice (Kevin) McArtor of Malta, IL and Scott (Emily) Fitzsimmons of Mineral Point; his five grandchildren, Max and Jacob McArtor and Morgan, Katie and Graham Fitzsimmons; two sisters, Nancy (Merton) Reynolds of Mineral Point and Janet May of Darlington as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In keeping with Jim's request, there will be no formal visitation or funeral. A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date. The Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com
