JoAnne Murphy, age 70, of Ridgeway, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 after battling kidney disease for many years.
The daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Cullen) Murphy, JoAnne was born on September 13, 1949 and raised in Ridgeway. She graduated as a proud member of the Class of 1967 and maintained lifelong friendships with her classmates. She went to the University of Milwaukee earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees, followed by further graduate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. JoAnne worked for McGlynn Bakeries and MedSource Technologies in Minneapolis.
JoAnne enjoyed reading, watching movies and Jeopardy. She volunteered at Grace Methodist Church in Ridgeway as a holy roller on pasty day for many years and made many good friends there. She was a member of the Ridgeway American Legion Auxiliary. She was active with the Hyde Historic Territory and the Iowa County Historic Society.
Joanne is survived by her six brothers: Michael (Millie) of Frederick, MD, Jim (Kay Van Epps) of Ridgeway, Tom (Kate) of Cross Plains, Mark (Terry) of Charlotte, NC, Patrick (Joyce) of Minnetonka, MN, and Ed (Lori) of Dodgeville; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and niece Ellen Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at ST. BRIDGET'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 803 Main St., Ridgeway. Fr. Stephen C. Petrica will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday at the church.
