Harrison, Verda Jayne Evans
Verda Jayne Evans Harrison, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2020 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 4, 1923, a life-long resident of Dodgeville, and was the second child of the late, Edward Evans, Jr., and the late, Sheba Jayne Vivian Evans, Dodgeville, and the wife of the late, Donald Carkeek Harrison, Dodgeville.
Mrs. Harrison was devoted to her husband and worked hard to make a home, raise her children, and help those who were in need. She kept her priorities, her faith, her humor and most of all, her deep and abiding love for her husband and her family. In good times and bad, she never gave up. She kept busy by helping neighbors, walking, working crossword puzzles, and enjoyed participating in the Plymouth United Church of Christ ladies circle and the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by two sons: Bruce Allen Harrison and his spouse, Christine Louise Humbert Harrison--her caretakers and residents of Port St. Lucie, Florida, their two sons and one daughter: Anthony James Harrison and his spouse, Esther Fiona Goldberg Harrison, Fort Pierce, Florida, and their children: Preston Arthur Harrison, Dorothy Laura Grace (Dollie) Harrison, and Reuben James Carkeek (Ben) Harrison, and Christine and Bruce's second son, Todd Preston Harrison and his spouse, Julie Rebecca Hefley Harrison, Fort Pierce, Florida, and their two children: Jacob Preston Harrison and Ellie Paige Harrison, and Bruce and Christine's daughter, Jacqueline Christine (Jackie) Harrison; and Mrs. Harrison's second son, Dr. Robert John Harrison and his spouse, Sandra Rezin Harrison of Denver, Colorado, their two daughters: Joanna Grace Harrison Etshokin, Woodbury, Minnesota, and Liliana Marie Harrison Shearon and her spouse, William M. Shearon of Castle Rock, Colorado, and their two children: Violet Madelaine Shearon and Liam Christopher Shearon. Mrs. Harrison is also survived by two brothers, James L. Evans and his spouse, Sharon Jones Evans, of Barneveld, Wisconsin, and Ronald W. Evans and his spouse, Joyce Christiansen Evans, Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Lastly, many nieces and nephews survive her, as well, her first cousin and close friend, Ross Vivian and his spouse, Jean, of Dodgeville, and her life-long friend, Mrs. R. Dean (Mary Jean Taylor) Thomas of Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Harrison was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Homer Carkeek Harrison and Beulah Margaret Moore Harrison, and four siblings: Ralph V. Evans and his spouse, Jo Ann Rock Evans, Lois M. Collins and her spouse, Vern Collins, her infant brother, John (Jackie), and Donald Evans and his spouse, Betty McCluskey Evans.
A private memorial service and inurnment at East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville, WI, will be held at a later date.
