Foley, Lyle J.
Lyle J. Foley, age 72, of Montfort, passed away, surrounded by his beloved family, on Thursday afternoon November 21, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 23, 1947 the son of Paul and Delores (Aurit) Foley. Lyle was united in marriage to Kathy Quinn on September 2, 1967 at the St. Lawrence O'toole Catholic Church rural Mount Hope.
Lyle graduated from Belmont High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Vietnam era from March 22, 1967 until being honorable discharged on March 19, 1971. His passions in life were farming, trucking and music. He farmed throughout the area for 20 years, drove truck cross-country for 13 years, and played music his entire life. Being apart of numerous two-man bands but remembered for his group "Lyle Foley and the Jokers Wild Band". He spread his passion of music at social events, weddings, first communions, and nursing homes. The lives he touched through his music are endless. Lyle also liked to visit with family, friends, or just people on the street, reading a good book, and cheering on the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers, along with sharing a good joke. He was an active member of the St John's Catholic Church and the Montfort VFW. Lyle's charisma and warm personality, big laugh, and with his willingness to help others will never be forgotten.
Lyle is survived by his wife Kathy of Montfort, three children; Brian (Tricia) Foley of Livingston, Amy (Brian Wackershauser) Foley of Platteville, Steven Foley of Sun Prairie, six grandchildren; Jordan, Storm (Kelly), Carter, John, Katie, and Lane (Morgan), five siblings; Marcia (Larry) Palzkill of Mineral Point, Marci Treder of Brodhead, Marlene (Michael Amble) Schrenk of Lake Delton, Mike (Betty) Foley of Poplar Grove, IL, Marilyn (Rick) Ballard of Monroe, four sister-in-laws; Diane Foley of Olympia, WA, Mary Kay Foley of Mineral Point, Marlys (Robert) Buechner of Madison, Mary Markus of Dodgeville, along with many special nieces and nephews.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Marie (Paul) Moody, Mary Alice Foley, four brothers; Rich Foley, Chuck Foley, Norman (Janice) Foley, and David Foley, two brother-in-laws; Patrick Quinn and Leo Quinn, sister-in-law Connie Foley and brother-in-law Leon Schrenk.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday November 25, 2019 at the St. John Nepomuc Catholic Church in Castle Rock Township Grant Co., WI with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Sunday November 24, 2019 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore where a Parish Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Sunday evening.
