McCarthy tosses Panthers past Flying Arrows

Mya McCarthy was in mid-season form Tuesday to help Iowa-Grant coast past Lancaster 9-1 in a non-conference softball game.
McCarthy spaced six hits, struck out eight and walked only one in fashioning her gem. The Flying Arrows plated a run off McCarthy in the third which was unearned.
Olivia Liddicoat had a solo home run in the third inning and finished with three rbis.
Lexi Busse had two hits, a double and three rbis.
Maci Stevens led off for the Panthers and scored three times. She had two hits and a walk with one of her hits a double. She had an rbi in the third inning. Kylie Cutts also had an rbi for the Panthers.
The Panthers had a pair of three run innings in the first and the fourth. They added a pair of runs in the second and got the solo shot from Liddicoat in the third.
"It was nice to get a win in our first game," said Iowa-Grant coach Deanna Fulton. "We have some things to work on but it is always nice to open the season with a win."
The Panthers are scheduled to open their SWAL season by hosting Darlington at 4:30 p.m. today.
