The Ponies are 8-6 on the season and are currently in fourth place in the Six Rivers East.
The Dodgers now carry a 1-13 mark.
Dodger senior sharpshooter Adam Phillips hit three from beyond the arc on the day and finished with a game-high 28 points. He put in seven of eight free throws in the closing minutes and hit 19 of his points in the second half.
Another senior, Noah Blalock, finished with 11 points and and three of four from the line during the final stretch. He also made a huge three pointer to put his team ahead to the point that the Ponies were forced to foul.
"Noah's three down the stretch was big," said Dodger coach Matt McGraw as he sighed with relief after getting the win. "I'm really happy with the progress of play by freshman Dillon Garthwaite and I felt Brandon (Molldrem) did a nice job on their big guy (Rufer)."
He pointed to another big key coming around the 4:00 mark when "we executed our offense and got a bucket and pushed the lead up to seven. We got it to 11 quickly after that."
"It was a much needed win for us," McGraw said. "The guys did what the needed to. Hopefully things keep on rolling for us."
Monticello was led in scoring by sophomore guard Peter Gustafson with 19 points. He hit 10 in the first half and nine in the second.
Junior post Reece Rufer added 13, scoring nine in the second half.
