Cardinals score late but not enough
It took until the last quarter for Highland could get into the end zone against Ithaca Friday.
By that time the visiting Bulldogs had scored 28 points and had taken control of the Ridge and Valley match-up.
Final score was 28-14 thanks to a pair of touchdowns where Cohen Healy found John Dreischmeier open for scores.
The first Highland tally cane on a 44 yard pass play. The second was a 30 yarder and was followed by a two point conversion run by Wes Kraisinger.
Highland generated 248 yards of total offense, picking up 166 through the air and 82 more rushing.
Ithaca totaled 317 yards, 165 passing and 152 on the ground.
Healy hit on a dozen passes on 28 attempts for 166 yards. He also ran for 21 on 17 carries.
Darren Laufenberg picked up 30 yards on four carries. Colton Frost got 12 on four tries. Bryce Bollant also carried for 12 on two rushes with Dax Smelzer gaining a yard each of his four carries.
Defensively Tyson Imhoff had 12 tackles, five solos and two for loss.
Laufenberg totaled 10 with one for loss.
Bollant had six, Krisinger four with an interception.
Bryce Nankey and Jaydon Bomkamp also had tackles for losses.
The Cardinals will host Royall Friday in a non-conference test.
