Dodgeville, River Valley golfers advance to sectional play

By Levi Zimmerman
Dodgeville hosted the WIAA division 2 regional boys golf tournament at Dodge-Point Country Club Tuesday.
Two Southwest Wisconsin Conference participants, Dodgeville and River Valley, qualified for sectional appearances with scores of 339 and 379, respectively.
The Dodgers took the first position by 36 points, as West Salem had a score of 375. River Valley finished in the third position, but not by much, as Platteville came in with 380 to advance to sectionals.
Prairie du Chien's James Reilly was the most prolific golfer of the day, as he carded a 73 on the par 70 course.
Dodgeville's Tyler Bradley took the second position overall with 76 strokes. Bradley hit for birdie on hole 15.
River Valley's Eli Johnson was in the third position with 79.
Johnson hit for par on the front nine that included a birdie performance on hole three.
Dodgeville's Blake Peterson ended in the fourth position by hitting for a 83.
Charlie Tremelling tied for fifth position with a score of 84.
Zach Breuer carded a 96 for Dodgeville followed by Joseph Cerutti who shot a 104.
For River Valley, Ashton Price hit for a 94, and Luke Snow hit for a 96.
Matthew Frederick ended the day with a score of 110 followed by Connor Fields who went for a 116.
Both teams will compete in WIAA sectionals in Prairie du Chien at the Prairie du Chien Country Club Tuesday, June 8. Tee time is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
"Tyler has been our anchor all year - he did it again today - conditions weren't ideal, his 76 was a great score. Our team has performed as Blake and Charlie have played - this was their first regional tournament - and they played awesome. Zach played his role as our 4 man well - he had a really good front nine and held it together on the back. I'm really happy for our team.- there was no doubt who the best team was today.. We're excited to head to sectionals and we'll see what happens at Prairie du Chien," says coach Jeff Bradley.
