The Dodgeville Area Scholarship Foundation's golf fundraiser was a huge success again! There were 30 teams competing - down a few from last year - but with it being a little earlier in the month than usual, people had plans for their own mid-month activities that they usually do. But 120 golfers is pretty darn good and the fun they (we) all have interacting and sharing stories is immeasurable! People there playing ranged in age from grade school to Bob McNeill Sr (91)! See some of the participants checking in and greeting each other in the photo above!

The annual "Kathryn McGraw" Pie Auction brought in another good chunk of money. Thanks to the Class of '65 (Kramer "Butch" Rock bidder), Mark Van Epps and Ed Brokish for buying!

Coming up soon - Friday, October 18 - is the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce sponsored "Off the Vine." This is a Wine Walk that leads you to a group of businesses throughout downtown Dodgeville. Businesses are currently being signed up for the event and tickets are on sale at the chamber of commerce building. To be a part of it contact the chamber at 935-9200. This is always a "fun" event!

A Mineral Point event coming up soon is the annual Cornish Festival the last weekend of September. It happens throughout the city and begins on Friday and runs through Sunday. The Cornish were the people who basically settled this area!

This Friday night is Dodgeville's Homecoming football game and Athletic Hall of Fame induction. Somehow I got picked to be inducted. I don't hold a candle athletically or with accomplishments to the likes of Dick Adams (12 varsity letters), Diane (Rohowetz) Flora or Jeff Bradley, but am very honored to be selected! The Homecoming Dance is Saturday night.

Thursday night, several will be inducted into the Highland Hall of Fame with the parade and game on Saturday. Congratulations to JJ (Richgels) Linscheid, Joe Esser (posthumously) and Tony Kaster.

It's amazing that semis will stop for you when you are in the crosswalk and crossing the street but cars won't! This has happened to me many times recently. I guess car drivers feel they can slip by so fast that I won't notice!

Last Sunday's "Fall Ball" baseball was wetted out but they will be playing at Centennial Park and the High School Field this Sunday - weather permitting!
