This Saturday, August 24, is when the Iowa County Cancer Coalition will hold its fundraiser at Dodger Bowl in Dodgeville. There will be food, a silent auction, a live auction and lots of fun! All monies raised at this event stays right here in Iowa County to help cancer patients.

Speaking of cancer patients, I just found out that a classmate - Gary Butteris - has cancer in several places. He really can't walk at this point and is at home 215 E. Chapel Street in Dodgeville. He's on Hospice. Keep him in your prayers.

Last Saturday was the 2nd Annual DodgeFest right outside our Dodgeville Chronicle building in the Iowa County Courthouse Parking Lot. It was a great time for all ages. It was great to see people of all ages from those pushing baby buggies to people "even older than me!" The weather was perfect for an event like that with some sun and it going under the clouds a lot with a little breeze. By evening, you couldn't have asked for better weather! There were tons of volunteers who made it happen from set up on Friday and EARLY Saturday morning to during the event (that I wouldn't venture to guess how many people attended) to tear down Sunday morning (that was delayed by rain) early, but was completely done by 11:00 a.m. Check out the photo above of some of the people enjoying food, beverages and just good conversation while they were there!

I got to see a lot of people Saturday since I was able to work 2 1/2 shifts at admissions and 1 1/2 shifts selling "beer tickets." Twice I had brother Pat in the chair next to me too!

If you walked along Chapel Street Saturday during DodgeFest, you got a chance to see a lot of great collector cars. They were lined up from Iowa Street to Main Street with some overflow in the BMO Harris Bank Parking Lot. There were some real beauties!

We lost a tremendous person to cancer last Friday when Phyllis Fritsch passed. She was hospital administrator here along with being a hospital employee earlier in life, Dodgeville Economic Development Director and a member of many non-profit and support groups.
