How about the weather lately? We go from 40 degrees to over a foot of snow to more like 40 below zero to 40 degrees again with rain and lots of fog. The ground doesn't know what is happening - neither does the body! There was a lot of water flowing Saturday, Sunday and Monday - where did it all go? We're supposed to get some ice to ice/snow later this week and the forecast for Valentine's Day and for several days after is snow every day. Temperatures are going to be back closer to normal (20-30 degrees mostly).

Talking about Valentine's Day, I start off that day (Thursday, February 14) with a dentist appointment. I doubt if I'll get a kiss from anyone there, even if it's the candy variety!

Sunday I watched one of the most boring Super Bowl games I can remember. I didn't really care which team won, although it would've been nice for the Rams over the Patriots - but it wasn't to be. There was a group of us at Bob and Mary Kratochwill's home for the game - Mary Rikli, Bev Reukauf, Charlene Mingst, Pat Thym and Jan Aschliman (in between ambulance calls). It was a good time catching up with all of them plus there was good food!

Saturday I had a chance to go to the Upland Hills Hospital Open House of their Barneveld Clinic. Somehow through the fog I found the building and I even got a tour from Dr. Jodi McGraw, who heads the clinic. See a photo of Dr. McGraw during the tour above.

Saturday evening, also in the fog and rain, I checked out the "Ice Lanterns" in Mineral Point. Somehow they survived the warm temperatures and rain. There were some slippery spots on the sidewalks from some of the melting though.

It's getting closer. Sunday, February 17 - will be the Dodgeville Lions Club's annual "Community Appreciation Breakfast" at the Dodger Bowl from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The event is in appreciation of all the support the community gives the Lions during the year. The cost is "zero" to the people attending, however any (and all) donations will be given to the Dodgeville Food Locker, which is headed by Lion Bob Allbright.

In the Dodgeville Lions Club's years of service, they have averaged giving over $12,000 per year back to the community!

The Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce annual banquet is coming up on Thursday, February 21 at the Dodger Bowl. Get your tickets soon! There will be special entertainment this year too!
